Green River Builders is honored to have a presence in several of metro Atlanta’s finest lakeside towns and suburban cities! While you may not live there (yet), if you’re considering making the move to one of our communities in the near future, the quality of the lifestyle each locale affords you should factor into your decision. There is perhaps no finer example of lifestyle-enriching, family-friendly fun things to see and do than during this year’s Memorial Day Weekend!
Memorial Day Weekend in McDonough
Home owners in Green River Builders’ community of The Reverie at East Lake enjoy access to the best that McDonough has to offer. Often serving as the backdrop to a variety of popular TV shows and films, its historic downtown area is also the site of some terrific community events. For instance, on Saturday May 21 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., McDonough will play host to its famous Geranium Festival on the Square for the 44th year, showcasing hundreds of food and craft vendors, as well as live music, children’s activities and more. Given the size of that event, there won’t be another the following weekend. However, on Memorial Day Monday, March 30, the Heritage Park Veterans Museum and Wall of Honor will play host to a live ceremony to honor fallen soldiers beginning at 11 a.m. The Veterans’ Museum is located in the big red barn featured at Heritage Park 99 Lake Dow Road in McDonough.
Memorial Day Weekend in Douglasville
For those who live in Green River’s Stonehaven on the Lake in Douglasville, they will enjoy a wide variety of parks, as well as a treasure trove of shopping and dining destinations. While there don’t appear to be any festivals or city events planned for Memorial Day Weekend, families can still get their fill of fun at the popular Boundary Waters Aquatic Center and Park. The Aquatic Center features two pools, while the rest of the 492-acre park boasts an activity center, 10-acre fishing pond, children’s playground, two 18-hole disc golf courses and more than a dozen miles of multi-use trails. Pack a traditional Memorial Day picnic and find a perfect spot on the grass.
Memorial Day Weekend at Lake Oconee
The weekend is wide open – affording residents in and around beautiful Lake Oconee virtually endless opportunities to hit the links at any number of the area’s scenic championship golf courses, catch a summer blockbuster at the Parkside Main 8, or hit the shops and restaurants in Downtown Greensboro. Needless to say, there are also 19,000 acres of open water and tranquil coves on Lake Oconee just waiting to be explored. Craving a grown-up outing? You might want to add a live concert to your holiday weekend mix. Oconee Brewing Company will play host to Sons of Sailors – A Jimmy Buffett Tribute Band on Saturday, May 28 from 7-10 p.m.
Memorial Day Weekend at Lake Keowee
If Lake Keowee homeowners feel up to leaving the picturesque shores of their luxury lake home, there are a number of fun Memorial Day Weekend events nearby. They pay opt to start as early as Thursday with Jazz on the Alley in historic Downtown Seneca, SC. The following night, they can head over to Walhalla for a classic Cruise-In to check out the classic cars and hot rods while enjoying dinner from a variety of food trucks as live music fills the air. On Saturday, Walhalla Memorial Stadium will play host to an outdoor concert as the Black Jacket Symphony presents Led Zeppelin’s “Houses of the Holy.” And on Memorial Day, Memorial Field next to the Walhalla Civic Center will be the site of the 1st Annual Memorial Day 5K to raise money for the Oconee County Veteran’s Council. That leaves Sunday wide open for boating, swimming and watersports on Lake Keowee!
We left one particularly important item off our list! The long Memorial Day Weekend proves an excellent time to visit any one or ALL of our communities to learn which might prove the best fit for your dream home by Green River Builders! Learn more about us at www.GreenRiverBuilder.com.
