“Despite the forecast, live like it’s spring.” ~ Fashion Designer, Lilly Pulitzer
As Winter lingers, the desire for a Springtime shift grows. While there’s not much we can do to expedite the return of leaves to the trees or tulips to our flower beds, there are a number of ways to infuse a littleSpringtime spirit to your interior décor and bring the outdoors IN. Green River Builders is pleased to give bloom to four of our favorites…
1) Summon Spring with Color: Just as you may infuse Christmastime colors like red and green to your décor each December, you can brighten your living spaces with soft and sweet pastels or vibrant neon shades of yellow, green, orange and turquoise. Throw pillows, table linens, bath towels, knickknacks and artwork are all simple ways to add a little color to each room – particularly if you’re working within a neutral backdrop. When done right, it will feel as though you’re strolling through a garden each time you enter a room.
2) Make the Switch to Sheer: Just as heavy curtain panels can make a room look and feel warmer, sheer panels can soften as pace – adding a touch of romance, letting the glow of sunshine bathe a room in light and give a sneak peek at the change of seasons outdoors. As the leaves return to the trees and flowers start to dot the landscape once more, those sheer panels will make a great frame for the living art show happening beyond your window panes.
3) Feather Your Nest: If you’re ready to make a more lasting change, consider infusing natural elements throughout your home – things that blur the line between the indoors and the outdoors. Blonde hardwood floors, reclaimed timber beams, stone surround at the fire place, rattan or seagrass furniture and jute rugs will all go a long way in bringing a sense of the outdoors IN. Artwork that features or suggests landscapes, insects like dragonflies or butterflies, birds and flowers are also great influences of the natural world in your interior decor.
4) How Does your Garden Grow… Indoors?: While houseplants are nothing new, there has been a green thumb revolution in recent years that has rocked the interior design industry to its core. From living walls that take the concept of a container garden and turns it on its ear (or side to be more accurate) to hanging herb gardens in the kitchen, live plants can not only enhance the look of your home and add life to any room, but they can also clean the air by reducing indoor air pollutants like formaldehyde, benzene and carbon monoxide.
From covered outdoor living spaces that can be screened in for four season enjoyment to flexible living spaces that can be converted to sunrooms, Green River Builders welcomes the opportunity to help you build the home of your dreams.
